Success
Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed. Proverbs16:3
We live in a world and especially a nation that is craving for success. What do we mean by success? How do we know if we are successful. To some it is education, achieving great results, others it is getting that promotion. These like so many other pursuits are good and worthwhile; but is this what the bible is talking about.
I believe it is. He is a generous God (James 1:5) he wants to help us in all our ways. Socially, at work, in our families and through our church life. He wants you to be a success. But measure success in the same way as God.
The Message Bible paraphrases this verse as “Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place.”
If we are going to put God in charge of what we do, it has to be something that is godly. In other words, if the business deal you are trying to win is by an underhand method, don’t bother bringing it to God. In the short term you may succeed, but in the end, it will turn sour. However if you bring it to God and ask for his wisdom and his understanding, he will give you a just way of bringing the deal to completion or he may ask you to pull out. Either way it will be the right decision, not necessarily the best financially, in the end, as we trust God he will prosper us.
Don’t think that anything is too small for God to be interested in, as we have said so many times, if he knows when a sparrow falls, if he knows the quantity of hairs on your head, how much more will God be interested in you and your plans.
God is the most practical being there is, he wants to be more that just a figure to be adored. He wants to come and live with in our lives and make you tick and function to the best that you can be.
What ever the situation, good or bad hand it over to the Lord and commit it to him. To commit has the thought of handing over someone or something into someone’s care and this is I believe what God wants us to do.
